Thailand visa for digital marketers
Retainers from clients abroad are DTV income. A single Thai client on the invoice list changes the answer entirely.
Marketers are usually paid by several clients at once, on rolling retainers, sometimes through a platform and sometimes direct. That is fine for the DTV, but it means your evidence pack has to be assembled rather than printed: there is no single payslip that tells the story.
The bigger issue is the client list. Marketing is the profession where a Thai client appears most naturally — a hotel here, an agency there — and a Thai-registered client paying you for work is Thai work. It is the one thing that will take you off the DTV and onto a Non-B.
The documents an embassy expects from this occupation. Missing one is the usual reason a case stalls.
- Signed retainer agreements or statements of work with clients outside Thailand
- Six months of invoices, each matched to a credit in your named account
- 500,000 THB held in a personal account for at least three months
- If employed by an agency: a contract and an employer letter permitting remote work
- A client list on your own or your company's letterhead, with jurisdictions stated

A Thai client on the list
One Thai-registered client is enough to make the DTV the wrong visa. If you want Thai clients, plan for a Non-B and a work permit from the start rather than discovering the problem after you have filed.
Many small clients, no contracts
Six clients paying a few hundred each, with no signed agreements, is the weakest evidence pack we see. Get at least your two largest relationships onto a written retainer before you apply.
Agency staff with no remote-work permission
An employment contract that names an office in London and says nothing about working abroad invites the question of whether you still hold the job. A short employer letter confirming remote work is authorised settles it.

I run a small agency with contractors. Does that help or hurt?
It helps, if the company is properly documented. Registration papers, a director's letter and company bank statements turn a freelancer profile into a business one, which reads better. It hurts only if the company exists on paper and nothing else.
Can I invoice a Thai client from my overseas company?
Structuring it that way does not change where the work is performed. If you are physically in Thailand doing the work for a Thai customer, immigration treats it as Thai work. Take advice before you rely on the offshore invoice.
How long does the DTV take?
Five to fifteen working days once filed, but the fund-seasoning clock runs for three months before that. In practice, plan on three to four months from decision to visa if your money is not already in place.
